It is very important to be healthy in our modern world. And unfortunately, those who suffer from chronic illnesses are not always treated with respect, they are not thought of as being sick, they are instead pitied and sometimes laughed at. That's where yoga comes in.. Yoga teaches us to respect our bodies, our health, and how to best respond to certain situations.
Yoga practice teaches us to slow down and to concentrate on the inner aspect of our being. The mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects are all connected, but the physical body also has a great impact on how our mind and body function. It is imperative that we find a balance between all three. When we are focusing on the inner aspect of ourselves, we will find that we can heal our bodies as well. Many people have found that they are able to heal their physical bodies through yoga practicing regularly.
One of the best yoga inspiring stories I have read involves a young woman who was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. She was taking yoga classes regularly, but she still continued to experience chronic illnesses. After consulting with her doctor, it was discovered that she was suffering from a rare autoimmune disorder called Juvenile Diabetes. This disorder is caused by an imbalance of the body's insulin and glucose levels.
Once the diagnosis was further explained to her, it became obvious to her doctors that her chronic illnesses were not being caused by the diabetes she was suffering from, but by something else. Through yoga, she was able to focus on the illness and the various treatments available, without worrying about the other symptoms she was experiencing. It was at this point that her doctors recommended she begins doing yoga to heal herself. Through doing yoga, she was able to achieve a balance of her blood sugar levels which resulted in her being able to stop having frequent urination, and from having flare-ups of her chronic illnesses.
In some cases, individuals experiencing the same types of chronic illnesses have had very miraculous results when combining yoga with traditional medicine. There are many yoga inspiring stories out there that I could mention, but in the end, it is up to you to decide what type of treatment would work best for you. It is also up to you to find the right yoga teacher or class for your specific needs.
