Can meditation while in bed to help you reach a deeper relaxation? It all depends on your mind state and the actual process of deep relaxation. What you meditate upon is not necessarily the effect, however. What you meditate upon is how you may choose to deepen your own relaxation. Deep relaxation is not for everybody, but those who are able to master it will see a dramatic improvement in their overall well-being.
What is deep relaxation? Technically, it is any state of deep and total peace, even though it can also be described as subjective to the person doing the meditating. A better way to explain this would be that it is not the outcome of any given activity, but is attained by one's own actions. Breathing deeply in your bed time does not pose any physical danger to you. In fact, it is essential to your overall health.
However, when you inhale more than you breathe out, your body relaxes even more. So if you are afforded the time to complete a meditation, download a guided meditation app, such as Insight Timer, and engage in a five-minute guided meditation while in bed. This will allow you to experience the mind-body connection, allowing you to fully experience deep relaxation. This will allow your mind to relax, as well as your entire body.
Your mind, as it relaxes while you fall asleep, will also have less distractions during the night. This will make it easier for you to fall asleep and make the process more relaxing for you. Your mind and body will also have a better opportunity to develop deeper sleep, which in turn will increase your quality of life on a daily basis.
There are other ways that you can incorporate meditation while in bed, such as yoga or other relaxation techniques. These will work just as well as deep breathing meditation, but will provide you with better results. Your mind will be calm and serene, allowing you to be more focused in the moment. You can use these techniques when you first start going to bed, as you will become familiar with them and can then incorporate them into your nightly routine.
Try setting up a peaceful environment for your bedroom before you go to bed. If it is too quiet, you may not be able to fall asleep. If the room is too bright, you may wake up in the morning. You can use various types of soothing music or a DVD playing in the background. You should be comfortable before going to bed so make sure that your mattress is as comfortable as possible.
